BirdQuest event changed to Feed the Birds event

Due to the recent weather events, we are changing our BirdQuest event to a Feed the Birds event!  Unfortunately the Wabeno Boardwalk is currently covered by approximately two or three feet of snow and while the forecast will allow for significant melting, I don’t believe we’ll have a cleared walking path on Sunday afternoon.

But Sunday is EARTH DAY and it is important that we celebrate it.  Therefore, on Sunday, April 22nd at 1:00 p.m. at the Crandon Public Library, we will meet to create bags of Bird Food to distribute around the county in hopes of helping birds survive these last snowy weeks of April.

According to REGI (Raptor Education Group) in Antigo, our unusual heavy snowstorm last week has already killed or severely weakened many migratory birds such as robins, warblers, and woodcocks.  These birds need cut-up raisins, dried mealworms, shelled sunflower-seed pieces, frozen blueberries and/or crumbled suet blocks.

Join us at 1:00 p.m. on Earth Day at the Crandon Public Library to help us put together these “care packages” for the birds!
